Jerry & Gina Hans have shown or bred 74 standard and miniature  poodles to their AKC champions and grand championships along with 26 obedience titles including numerous Utility Dog titles, High Combined award, and multiple High in Trial obedience awards.  This does not include obedience, rally, agility, scentwork and other titles earned by other owners of NightWind dogs.  Their dogs have earned key wins at shows across the Midwest.   NightWind poodles have had multiple class placings and wins at the prestigious  Poodle Club of America National Specialty.  The photographs on this page feature  some of those wins.   Further wins have been earned by NightWind sired dogs.  They  have had numerous Group and Specialty Best in Show wins and top 20 nationally ranked dogs in their breed. Many of our poodles have been featured in advertisements in Poodle Variety magazine.   SBIS Ch NightWind Your Vote Counts CD earned an automatic invitation to the inaugural Eukanuba National Championship by being ranked number 7 nationally.  They also had the top AKC poodle dam in 1997 based on champions produced.   This has all been done breeder/owner/handled while working full time, which is a phenomenal accomplishment in a breed that is dominated by professional handlers with owners having large advertising budgets, and in a sport where amateurs like us must compete directly with professionals to earn titles on their dogs.

Although you might think that this means we are a large kennel with an emphasis on showing, you would be mistaken.  We do have quite a few dogs but many are retired show dogs who enjoy lounging around the house, running the back yard, and hunting for critters in our rural setting.   We only have puppies once or occasionally twice yearly and only when we are ready for another show dog.  Generally our girls only have two litters, occasionally a third, and are then spayed to improve their health by preventing reproductive diseases.    It is very important that the rest of the puppies go into loving pet homes.  We are not in the business of creating lots of puppies to sell, nor are we trying to break records by the number of champions produced by insisting that all our puppies are shown.  Since our dogs are housedogs, we must keep the number of dogs limited for their own happiness.  Standard poodles are too intelligent and too active to be kept as kennel dogs; they needs lots of one-on-one attention and must get lots of exercise.  As you read through the rest of the pages of our website, you will learn about our philosophies of breeding and the availability of a puppy or adult.
